Excerpts
Ryan Holiday. Stillness is the Key.
When our thoughts are empty and our body is in its groove, we do our best work. 157
Stillness. To be steady while the world spins around you. To act without frenzy. To hear only what needs to be heard. 13
Stillness is the key to: thinking clearly; breaking free from addictions; making tough decisions; managing our emotions; identifying the right goals; handling high-pressure situations; maintaining relationships; building good habits; being productive; achieving physical excellence; feeling fulfilled; and capturing moments of laughter and joy. 13
We’ll get the stillness we need if we focus on the individual steps, if we embrace the process, and give up chasing. We’ll think better if we aren’t thinking so hard. 69

How to develop Stillness
To develop a still mind, aim to keep your mind free of thoughts, striving for a state of thoughtlessness. If your mind starts wandering, gently bring it back to your breathing, how your body feels, or the things around you. Let these sensations pass through your mind without dwelling on them.
Consistency is key for maintaining clarity. Develop a plan and stick to it diligently. Aim to avoid deviating from your plan unless absolutely necessary. Resist the urge to engage in unplanned activities such as checking social media, attending spontaneous meetings, or altering your sleep schedule.
Achieving stillness can be challenging amidst life's distractions. It demands persistent effort and discipline to remain centered. Remember, achieving a clear mind takes time and perseverance. If you fall, simply pick yourself up and continue striving for focus. Instead of dwelling on the fall, direct your energy towards freeing your mind from thoughts and returning to your plan.
If you find yourself struggling, know that you're not alone. We're here to support you based on our own experiences with these methods. Understanding that others have successfully navigated this journey can offer valuable reassurance and encouragement.
Finding calmness through stillness is something special. Many people haven't tried it or even know about it. That's why this site exists: to connect people who have found clarity through stillness—those who have read about it—and collaborate with them to help others learn about it and enjoy its benefits.
We have weekly talks, each lasting 45 minutes. We chat about how we've used stillness and what new things we've learned about it. We also share books and content on stillness that others might not know about.
During these talks, everyone gets a chance to speak. We believe that stillness is already inside us; we just need to learn how to listen to it. These talks help us learn from each other.
We won't tell you what to do. Instead, we'll share what has worked for us and help you find what works for you. Our goal is to help you develop good habits that fit your life easily. Let's start this journey together and find the peace you deserve.
